Case Study: GPT-5 Powered Smartwatch

The Future of AI-Powered Wearables

GPT-5 Smartwatch

Introduction

At Elecmore, we set out to design a smartwatch that wasn’t just another fitness tracker or notification device – but a personal AI-powered assistant on your wrist. Leveraging the latest in GPT-5 conversational intelligence, ESP32 IoT connectivity, and custom PCB design, we developed a cutting-edge smartwatch that delivers real-time answers, natural conversations, and context-aware recommendations.

The Challenge

  • Develop a next-generation smartwatch with AI conversation technology (GPT-5).
  • Provide real-time responses and offline capabilities for essential functions.
  • Design a compact PCB layout balancing performance, efficiency, and comfort.
  • Ensure secure data handling for user privacy with IoT integration.
  • Maintain a scalable platform for future updates and firmware expansion.

Our Approach

1. Concept & System Architecture

We selected the ESP32-S3 as the core MCU for its AI acceleration and paired it with optional Raspberry Pi CM4 in higher-tier models for edge processing.

2. PCB Design & Hardware Development

Using Altium Designer and KiCad, we built a 6-layer rigid-flex PCB with ESP32-S3, AMOLED display interface, battery management, and MEMS microphones.

3. Firmware & AI Integration

We programmed custom firmware with Arduino + ESP-IDF, integrated GPT-5 cloud APIs, and added offline fallback AI using TensorFlow Lite Micro.

4. AI Conversation Engine

Natural voice interactions were powered by multi-turn GPT-5 dialogue, contextual reminders, and IoT API integration for smart home commands.

5. Prototype Testing

We achieved 36 hours of battery life, optimized heat dissipation, and validated Bluetooth audio streaming performance.

Key Features

  • ✅ Instant Voice Answers with GPT-5
  • ✅ Natural Conversations like talking to a friend
  • ✅ Smart Health Tracking (HR, SpO2, Sleep)
  • ✅ IoT Hub Integration for smart homes
  • ✅ AI-Powered Notifications
